Class 2

(7-8 years)

The Class 2 curriculum addresses the 8-year-old’s increasing realism and self-awareness. Animal fables are told as lessons in a very practical kind of morality, stories of the Christian saints are told in order to foster a reverence for the spiritual potential of the human being.

Literacy skills are consolidated and developed through a variety of practices, including simple composition and the teaching of the principles of synthetic and analytic phonics. The children’s facility, both written and oral, with the four processes will be strengthened. The basics of the decimal place value system will have been introduced by the end of the year, as will most of the times tables.
